CHICAGO—Bentall Kennedy has hired The Habitat Company as the property manager for both McClurg Court Center in Chicago and Coventry Glen apartments in suburban Round Lake. With these two additions, Habitat's total units under management will expand to 21,000 total units.

Located at 333 E. Ontario St. in the Streeterville neighborhood, McClurg Court has 45-story twin towers with 1,061 apartments, as well as commercial space on the first level of the building. Coventry Glen is a 280-unit community in the northwest suburbs – a new submarket for Habitat. As reported in GlobeSt.com, the Chicago-based property manager and developer has decided to expand beyond the urban core.

“The Habitat Company's reputation for excellence was instrumental in winning the property management assignments for McClurg Court Center and Coventry Glen,” says Sheila Byrne, executive vice president of property management for Habitat. “Through past and current partnerships, we've been able to demonstrate Habitat's exceptional professionalism, care for residents, and property management expertise.”

This is not the first partnership between the companies. Bentall Kennedy, the real estate advisor to the fund which owns both McClurg and Coventry Glen, and Habitat recently joined up to develop Hubbard Place, a 450-unit community at 360 W. Hubbard St. in Chicago's River North neighborhood. In less than one year, Hubbard Place achieved 95% occupancy, six months ahead of schedule.

Built in the early 1970s and partially redeveloped in 2012, McClurg offers studios, convertibles, and one- and two-bedroom apartments that include views of downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan. Amenities include a sun deck with grills, fitness center, internet lounge, an indoor pool and three indoor tennis courts. McClurg also has about 114,220-square-feet of retail space on site.

Located near the Long Lake and Round Lake Metra stations, Coventry Glen is a nine-year-old garden-style community with one- and two-bedroom apartments with gourmet kitchens, walk-in closets, full-sized washers and dryers, as well as a clubhouse that overlooks the outdoor pool, and includes a business center and fitness center.

Gary Lundemo, vice president of property management at Habitat, will manage McClurg, and Katrina Edgar O'Neill, regional manager, will handle Coventry Glen.
