SANTA CLARA, CA—The Irvine Company has submitted a proposal for another project here—a transit-oriented mixed use with 417 apartments and about 26,000 square feet of retail space near the Santa Clara Caltrain station.

The Silicon Valley Business Journal says the Newport Beach-based firm has made the proposal to city officials, citing a city-staff report from last week.

The site is on 6.4 acres in an area that is currently a mix of light-industrial buildings and older homes.
