LOS ANGELES—Servicon Systems, a sustainable maintenance services firm, has named Laurie Sewell as president and CEO of the company. Sewell formerly served as president, and takes over the CEO position for the company's founder Richard Mahdesian, who has become chairman emeritus.

“I have a passion for this industry and the people that work in it.  I am delighted to be leading an outstanding team at a time of important change in our industry,” Sewell tells GlobeSt.com. “I believe that the work we perform has an enormous impact on our clients' business.  In the commercial real estate industry, our work directly impacts the value of the assets and directly contributes to tenant retention. My career goals have always been centered around positively impacting people and their lives, and this new position gives me an even greater opportunity to do so.”

With storied experience in the industry, Sewell has worked with Servicon for years, and has climbed the ladder, working in payroll, supplies, inventory control and distribution. Her vast experience in these various areas has likely contributed to her success. She will continue to grow the company and focus on long-term relationships and clients. “Now that we are poised for rapid growth on the horizon, I want to ensure that we have the systems in place to continue to exceed our clients' expectations and to bring them additional value year over year,” she says. “Ideally, I want to create an environment for our workforce where employees are engaged, appreciated and produce the best work that truly makes a difference. We will change the face of the cleaning industry by measuring the significant impact of our work on preserving property, reducing risk, and improving the health and safety of our clients and their tenants.”

Along with Sewell's promotion to CEO, the firm also promoted Stacey Wong to director of sales. Wong has worked at the company since 2007, and is responsible for managing strategic account growth and developing sales processes. The two promotions illustrate Servicon's move to strengthen its executive team and prepare for company growth.

“Servicon will no longer be the “best kept secret” in the cleaning industry,” promises Sewell. “We will be introducing new tools that allow our clients to measure the impact of our work on their bottom line.  Our new LEED Platinum learning center and client and innovation hub will be active with numerous training sessions and client and industry events.  More importantly, what will not change is Servicon's culture of deep respect and appreciation for our workforce and the outstanding quality of the work we perform.”

Several companies have made headlines recently due to executive expansion. Savills Studley was among the most recent, promoting three L.A. area executives.
