LOS ANGELES—Industry veteran and TruAmerica Multifamily asset management director Edward Kim passed away March 18 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 45 years old, and is survived by his wife Dianna and his two daughters, Savanna and Cameron.
Kim's family, friends and colleagues attended a memorial service on March 28 in Brea, near his home, celebrating his life and accomplishments, including his successful and storied 20-year career in the commercial real estate industry. He joined TruAmerica in August 2013, only a month after the company first launched. Kim brought 18 years of experience to the firm, and helped mange its extensive and growing West Coast multifamily portfolio.
Before joining TruAmerica Multifamily, Kim served as a SVP in portfolio management at Winthrop Management, where he developed the company's ground up residential management division. He grew the division to more than 10,000 units in 40 properties across the country. Earlier on in his career, he worked as an asset manager at Pacific Property Co. and a property manager at Western National Group, gaining experience in every aspect of the business, from corporate accounting and capital programs to software development and implementation to renovations, leasing and marketing. His triumphs in the industry will be long remembered and appreciated.
Outside of work, Kim lived a full life. He loved to read and research new topics, and he was an enthusiastic camper, affectionately known by his loved ones as “the grill master.” His family feels blessed to have known his generous heart and have loving memories with him.
