NEW YORK CITY—Avison Young has brought on David Burton as a director here. The 16 year-veteran of the industry—who has represented both tenants and landlords—previously was with DTZ.

Burton specializes in office subleasing, planning and executing campaigns for a diverse roster of clients that includes tenants in the financial services, insurance, media and information technology sectors. Burton's hiring comes on the heels of Avison Young having recently expanded its presence in New York City with the relocation of its Manhattan office to a full floor—totaling 40,000 square feet—at 1166 Ave. of the Americas.

“David is recognized in the industry for his decisive leadership, exceptional work ethic and commitment to organizational objectives,“ states Arthur Mirante, Avison Young principal and tri-state president. As we continue to expand our presence in the highly competitive and rapidly changing New York City marketplace, David's strategic skill set and broad-based leasing experience will serve as an invaluable asset to our team, fostering our continued success.

Burton has spearheaded a number of high-level transactions, including 14 deals for Michael Page International—which that span an average of 60,000 square feet; Continental Airlines' 11,500-square-foot lease at 405 Lexington Ave.; DBS Vickers,(Singapore's largest bank) 5,000-square-foot lease at 777 Third Ave.; and a 125,000-square-foot sublease between Zurich and New York University.

“I'm excited to join the Avison Young team and start a new chapter in my career at such a critical time for the New York City real estate market,” comments Burton. “We're seeing a rapidly increasing level of activity in the commercial sector and I'm eager to have the opportunity to work with the firm's dynamic team to capitalize on this confidence and fervor in the market.”
