I have spent the last fews days in Abu Dhabi and Dubai meeting with investors and quasi government officials who are again actively recruiting for talent.

The first category of being sought-after are development executives who are being enlisted to help build spectacular towers that architects have obviously been given full creative license to design, schools, arts centers, public agencies, hotels that will take you breath away. Infrastructure in the form of bridges, tunnels, highway are all under construction; you name it they are building it.

Frankly, the size and scale took my breath away as first time visitor to the Gulf Region. I had read plenty about the cities that were being built, but I was not prepared for the sheer size and scale of the activity that we observed.

The second recruiting assignment that we were in the region to discuss is for investment professionals from seasoned investors across all sectors, to transaction managers, asset and portfolio managers, and other talent who will drive currently aggressive investment agendas.

Our clients are careful, measured and through in their recruiting process, and broad in their approach. The only wrinkle for stateside talent is the need to relocate to the region where all the action is.

It can be an okay tour of duty for three years or so; not a bad lifestyle with plenty of sun and sand.
