CHICAGO—John Gledhill has just joined Transwestern's tenant advisory services group as senior vice president. He is the immediate past president of the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers and the Illinois chapter of CCIM and joins Transwestern from CBRE where he most recently held the title of first vice president.

An industrial specialist with more than 20 years in the industry, Gledhill says he focuses on helping clients match sustainability goals with their real estate objectives such as lower costs and improved productivity.

“Sustainability is something our clients continue to ask about every day, and the companies we advise will benefit greatly from John's expertise and thought leadership," says John Coleman, executive vice president of industrial services. "His decision to join Transwestern affirms the strength of our platform and our position as the industry's leading value creator."

Gledhill spent the majority of his commercial real estate career at CBRE. There he gained experience advising corporate tenants on establishing sustainable real estate initiatives, as well as leveraging site selection, lease negotiations, construction processes and materials, operating protocols and supply chain optimization strategies.

For example, he represented a Fortune 1000 manufacturer of avionics equipment in a portfolio review involving 17 domestic locations. Based on his guidance, the company relocated five facilities and the renovated seven others. As a result, the client was able to move its products closer to end users and hire lower-cost labor. The renovations included implementing energy-saving tactics, including the use of solar power, efficiency lighting and recycling. In all, the client cut its annual energy costs by 30%.

Gledhill has been a US Army Reservist for more than 20 years and currently holds the rank of Sergeant Major. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and studied business and Japanese.
