SAN DIEGO—Pacific Building Group has completed a full renovation of the 25,000-square-foot space for Imaging Healthcare Specialists, San Diego's leader in outpatient diagnostic imaging.

The San Diego-based general contractor along with architect Raymond Fox and Associates, utilized its expertise in healthcare facilities and building renovation projects to re-purpose an outdated structure into a full-service and highly accessible imaging center located at 150 W. Washington St.

The new two-story facility features the latest state-of-the-art technology in medical imaging, ample patient parking, improved patient convenience and comfort along with associated administrative and support spaces.

“With the growing healthcare demands in San Diego, Imaging Healthcare Specialists had the need to consolidate two Hillcrest locations,” said Jon Robins, MD, chairman and CEO of Imaging Healthcare Specialists. “With this consolidation, Imaging Healthcare Specialists will be better positioned to serve the Hillcrest community by delivery of high quality, effective, patient-focused care.”

In addition to delivering general contracting services, Pacific Building Group provided preconstruction services for this project. By working with the architect and Imaging Healthcare Specialists prior to the completion of the final construction drawings, the entire team was able to establish and develop the budgetary and design goals of the project. The team was able to achieve the project goals even while adapting the scope throughout the project to respond to requested changes.

An additional advantage of the early preconstruction work was to identify existing conditions within the older building structure and enhance the overall usability of the facility. Pacific Building Group coordinated with key equipment vendors to ensure that the sensitive and expensive imaging equipment was delivered according to schedule and had all the necessary requirements for full functionality within the space.

Pacific Building Group team members that completed this project include chief estimator Mark Irish, project manager Jordan Rubino, superintendent Jim Entwisle, and project engineer Frank Torres.
