SAN JOSE—Chris Graber is now project director in the C.W. Driver San Jose office. The 16-year industry expert will oversee projects within the company's Northern California region, which continues to expand to meet the growing market demands of the technology, hospitality and education markets. Graber will also spearhead corporate office, mixed-use and entertainment projects.

As project director, Graber is currently leading several projects with new and existing clients in the Northern California area, including Malek Legacy by MPM Corporation's mixed-use development in downtown Mountain View; the Kensington Place assisted living facility in Redwood City; Ohlone Community College District's Fremont campus athletic fields; Foothill-De Anza Community College District's Education Center in Sunnyvale; and Domain Mountain View, UDR's 155-unit multi-family project about to break ground in Mountain View.

Graber tells GlobeSt.com: “My primary goal is to integrate our company's core values and grow at a strategic rate that not only maintains, but also enhances our relationships in the region. Our reputation for nearly 100 years is based on respect, integrity, teamwork, loyalty, leadership and commitment. These core values are the foundation of our business practice not only with our clients, architects and engineers, but also with the subcontractor community. The market is extremely hot, but it's important to remain diverse with our projects, build the best teams and have fun doing it.”

Graber's 11-year tenure with C.W. Driver includes several large projects such as PDI/DreamWorks Redwood City animation studio, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel expansion, Lights, Camera, Action! at Universal Studios Singapore, and Robert Alan Grimm Hall Education & Business Technology Center at Concordia University.

“There continues to be a major growth spurt in the Silicon Valley for corporate and mixed-use development. Although we lead California in the higher education sector, we have several commercial and technology-focused clients that we continue to work for on ground-up and tenant improvement projects,” Graber continues. “Our long history in the higher education sector and spending over a decade in the high-demand world of entertainment and retail work enhances our ability to complete fast-track technology office space TI's. There is often no time to design-bid-build in this market, and we assist our clients with target value design-build with the latest trade pricing from our trusted subcontractors. This can cut 30 to 40% duration from a traditional design-bid-build schedule.”

C.W. Driver has been a California general contracting and construction management services firm since 1919 in industries such as education, commercial/office, technology, healthcare/biomedical, mixed-use, assisted living, entertainment, retail, industrial and civic. In a previous update, C.W. Driver's recent projects were highlighted.

“As a hub for the tech industry, the Bay Area continues to be a market of choice for many companies looking to expand, resulting in the need for new construction and an increase in rent growth throughout the region,” said Andy Kirby, vice president of C.W. Driver's Northern California region. “Chris' broad industry knowledge and experience on projects for DreamWorks, Disney, Universal, Carnival Cruise Lines and multiple universities will be integral to the company's success.”
