A recent Harris Poll of unemployed professionals found that almost one-fifth had voluntarily quit their jobs in the search for their next career opportunity. The Wall Street Journal, which reported the results of the poll of more than 1,500 individuals, also indicated that recent government data suggests that more people are in fact quitting.

This trend is certainly counter to conventional wisdom that it is better to look for a new job while you are gainfully employed, and avoid the question of employers “what really happened” when someone is pounding the pavement seeking a new job. This trend certainly highlights that confidence has rebounded as employment markets have recovered, and real estate is no exception, as we are observing increasingly active hiring trends across the board.

Nevertheless, if you get itchy and want to make a move, my advice is scratch the itch in the office and not on the street.
