NEW YORK CITY—Related Cos. has hired Timur Galen as EVP. He will be a part of the senior executive team for the development of Hudson Yards, primarily responsible for leading and overseeing over seven million square feet of commercial office development at 10, 30, 50 and 55 Hudson Yards.
A 35-year veteran of the industry, Galen formerly was global co-head of corporate services and real estate at Goldman Sachs, where he led the development of 200 West St., the firm's global headquarters; along with the redevelopment of the broader New York/New Jersey campus, including 30 Hudson St. and the Conrad New York hotel and retail complex.
He also oversaw the evolution of Goldman's global campus, including significant projects in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Paris, Moscow, Chicago, São Paulo, Salt Lake City and major new developments in London and Bengaluru. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Galen worked as an executive with the Walt Disney Company, Reichmann International, BPT Properties and Hines.
“With eight million square feet already underway at Hudson Yards, and an additional nine million square feet in development, we have created a dedicated, experienced and talented team to spearhead the project and are pleased to welcome Timur aboard,” says Jeff Blau, CEO of Related. “His diversified real estate and corporate business experience and expertise in complex, large-scale commercial office projects are an ideal fit for Related and Hudson Yards.”
Adds Galen, “Related is a world-class organization and Hudson Yards is truly a once-in-a-lifetime city-building opportunity. I look forward to joining with my colleagues to set a new standard for commercial development and to create a compelling new district for New York's business leaders in the heart of the city's next great neighborhood on Manhattan's West Side.”
Hudson Yards is the largest private real estate development in the nation's history. The site will include 17 million square feet of commercial and residential space, more than 100 shops and restaurants, approximately 5,000 residences, a cultural venue, 14-acres of public open space and an Equinox-branded luxury hotel with approximately 200 rooms.
