NEW YORK CITY—Ralph Lauren has signed on for approximately 60,000 square feet of additional space at the Starrett-Lehigh Building on 11th Avenue and West 26th Street, according to Crain's New York Business. It will expand its office and give subsidiary Club Monaco—which has its global headquarters at the 20-story building—more space. In total, Ralph Lauren and Club Monaco will occupy about 100,000 square feet in the 2.3 million-square-foot building.
The details of which company will occupy what portions of the new space are still being worked out, sources familiar with the deal tell Crain's. David Goldstein, a broker at Savills Studley, represented Ralph Lauren in the deal. Savills Studley declined to comment to GlobeSt.com. Landlord RXR Realty represents itself in-house for leasing agreements. Representatives of the firm did not respond to GlobeSt.com's request for comment by presstime.
The Starrett-Lehigh Building is no stranger to fashion tenants. Its the home of Tommy Hilfiger's New York operations, and German fashion brand Hugo Boss had a large showroom there for several years before recently relocating downtown. Rents at Starrett-Lehigh range from the $50s to the $70s per square foot, depending on the floor.
RXR bought the asset in 2011 for about $900 million and put millions into renovations. The realty giant expanded the main lobby, which sits on West 26th Street; renovated the gym and corridors; and is will soon replace the building's seven miles of windows.
