TYSONS, VA—The Meridian Group reports it has entered into a joint venture with McLean, VA-based Kettler to develop the residential and retail space in the 3.7-million-square-foot The Boro property here.

The Meridian Group and Kettler will develop The Boro's residential buildings as well as the retail and entertainment space, including a new 70,000-square-foot flagship Whole Foods Market and a 15-screen Showplace ICON cinema that is projected to open in the summer of 2018. The Showplace ICON cinema is owned by Chicago-based Kerasotes Showplace Theatres. At full build-out, The Boro will include approximately 1.8 million square feet of residential space, 1.3 million square feet of office space, 316,000 square feet of retail space, and 250,000 square feet of hotel space.

As for the first phase, that is scheduled to break ground in the summer of 2016 and will involve the construction of 1.4 million square feet of mixed-use space. When completed, the first phase will feature 626 apartments, 124 condominiums, 223,000 square feet of retail space, 400,000 square feet of office space, and a one-acre public park.

"We are very excited to have a partnership with Kettler to develop the residential and retail space at The Boro," says David Cheek, president and co-founder of Bethesda, MD-based The Meridian Group.
