NEW YORK CITY—Spotlighting Brooklyn's ever-growing importance, REBNY has created a commercial brokerage Brooklyn committee. Lee & Associates NYC senior managing director/principal Peter Levitan has been elected chair of group while John Ritter, EVP, Sholom & Zuckerbrot, will serve as vice chair of the committee.

The move marks the organization's first-ever establishment of a commercial committee for a specific borough.

Levitan, who at 31 years is among the youngest committee chairs in REBNY's history, has been responsible for dozens of transactions in Brooklyn, including Apple's leasing of 247 Bedford Ave. In late 2014, he arranged the highest-priced sale in the borough, comprising two retail development properties at 184-186 and 204-206 Bedford Avenue.

On the heels of that deal, he represented the sellers for another record retail sale at 312 Leonard St. At $950-per-square-foot, it was the highest price ever received for a Williamsburg property east of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. In addition, he was responsible for the highest priced retail lease in Park Slope at 857 Union St.

“I am both grateful for this prestigious appointment and excited about working with an incredible group of professionals,” says Levitan. “We have an opportunity to lay new groundwork that will encourage the kind of growth that benefits all the stakeholders in the borough.”

Members of the commercial brokerage Brooklyn retail committee will include retail brokers, owner representatives and other industry professionals active in the sales and leasing of store space in the borough. The committee plans to meet several times a year to share information and provide mutual support.
