NEW YORK CITY—CBRE Group has promoted professionals in its retail and office groups. Eric Gelber, a 25-year industry veteran in retail real estate, and Clyde Reetz, a 23-year office leasing expert, have been named EVP.

A member of CBRE's New York tri-state region retail services team since joining the company in 1994, Gelber is a two-time winner of the Real Estate Board of New York's “Most Ingenious Retail Deal of the Year.” He has executed leasing and sales transactions valued at more than $4 billion on behalf of his clients.

“Eric is a force in Midtown Manhattan retail leasing,” says Kyle Schoppmann, executive managing director, CBRE New York Tri-State Region. “He has performed with distinction for his clients on many high-profile transactions.”

Among Gelber's major clients are Barilla, Equity Office Properties, Fisher Brothers and Paramount Group. Most recently he represented Footlocker in the leasing of its new 36,000-square-foot Times Square flagship at 1460 Broadway. He also was responsible for the repositioning of the retail at Morgan Stanley's world headquarters at 1585 Broadway, as well as the long-term lease between Host Hotels & Resorts and Vornado Realty Trust that allows Vornado to redevelop the retail and signage components of the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.

Among his other notable transactions is Gucci's 46,000-square-foot flagship store at Trump Tower, for which he won the 2006 REBNY “Most Creative Retail Deal of the Year” award. Gelber won the same award back in 2001 for the sale of 1356 Broadway.

Over the last 20 years with CBRE, Reetz has specialized in tenant representation, working with local, national and international clients across finance, media and communications. He has completed transactions totaling more than 8 million square feet.

His major transactions include the sale of 10 Bank St., in White Plains, NY, for Morgan Stanley; 200,000 square feet of leases for Premiere Radio Networks; the 75,000-square-foot consolidation and relocation for MPG USA, a division of Havas Advertising; a 72,000-square-foot lease for New York Magazine, a 52,000-square-foot lease for Premier Exhibitions and a 32,000-square-foot lease for Mercury Radio Arts.

Reetz works extensively with Chinese firms, recently representing Bank of Communications Co., China Eastern Airlines and Bank of China's relocation of its New York headquarters to 7 Bryant Park—for which he is on the agency leasing team.

In addition, Reetz advises private equity companies such as Clayton Dubilier & Rice, SunCapital Partners and Onex Corp. on their real estate requirements, as well as those of the operating companies they purchase, coordinating with local CBRE expertise in several different markets.

He represents tenants throughout Manhattan—acting as trusted advisor on all their real estate requirements—and many of these prestigious clients are responsible for driving significant change in the dynamics of our city's real estate.”
