NEW YORK CITY—The Trump Organization said Tuesday it had hired hospitality veteran Eric Danziger as CEO of Trump Hotel Collection, its luxury hotel management company. Danziger was most recently president and CEO of Hampshire Hotel Management, a company he joined in March 2014; a spokewoman for Hampshire tells GlobeSt.com the company wishes him "nothing but the best in his future endeavors."

Danziger began his career in the hotel industry at the bottom of the ladder 44 years ago, working as a bellman at the Fairmont in San Francisco. He has since traveled in more rarified circles, serving at various times as president and CEO of Starwood Hotels, president and COO of Carlson Hotels Worldwide and president and CEO of Wyndham Hotel Group.

“Trump Hotel Collection has been an amazing success, and we are very pleased to welcome Eric to the company,” says Donald J. Trump, president and chairman of the Trump Organization. “We have some of the greatest hotels in the finest locations in the world. Eric will play a vital role in our continued expansion and the incredible future of Trump Hotels.”

For his part, Danziger calls his new role “the stuff of fairy tales—and of the American Dream. I fully believe that the Trump Hotel brand has significant domestic and global opportunities and look forward to a very dynamic growth trajectory.”

Hampshire's spokeswman says her company remains focused on expanding "our portfolio of lifestyle brands and growing our management company." Longtime board member Russ Rosen will assume the CEO role on an interim basis.

Danziger is the recipient of numerous industry awards and honors, most recently including the first-ever “Inspirational Industry Icon” award granted by the South American Hotel Investment Conference. He also was named the “Northern California Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year” in real estate, hospitality and construction; was named a “UJA Federation Honoree;” and received the Arthur Landstreet award from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International.

Additionally, as a member of the Industry Real Estate Financing Advisory Council and the Urban Land Institute, Danziger has served as chairman of the American Hotel & Lodging Strategic Planning Group and is active with major universities. He has been featured as a distinguished lecturer at Cornell University and is a visiting professor at Johnson and Wales University, where he holds an honorary doctorate.
