MORRISTOWN, NJ – New Jersey State Sen. Robert Gordon, a Democrat who represents the 38th Legislative District in Bergen and Passaic Counties, has joined Avison Young as a senior vice president of consulting and advisory.
Gordon will work with Avison Young to help grow the firm's New Jersey real estate practice focusing on the state's healthcare sector. Drawing upon more than a decade of experience at large management consulting firms, Gordon will work primarily on business development, focusing on building the firm's medical client base in New Jersey as it expands its healthcare practice into an industry-leading platform that provides a full range of real estate services to healthcare tenants, buyers and owners.

Before joining Avison Young, Gordon worked for five years as a management consultant with APM Management Consultants, where he advised on mergers and other strategic projects for major hospital systems, including the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Emory Healthcare. Earlier in his career, Gordon worked at A.T. Kearney, where he was responsible for creating business development and marketing strategies for Fortune 1000 firms.

Gordon's legislative district encompasses the Bergen County municipalities of Bergenfield, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hasbrouck Heights, Lodi, Maywood, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, River Edge, Rochelle Park, and Saddle Brook and the Passaic County borough of Hawthorne. The New Jersey state legislature is a part-time legislature, and members typically either have other employment or operate their own businesses in addition to serving as legislators.
Gordon, who has been a senator since 2008, who serves as a senator in the New Jersey State Legislature, chairs the senate's legislative oversight committee, and is vice chair of the transportation committee. He also serves on the health, human services and senior citizens committee and on two commissions, Intergovernmental Relations and Legislative Services.
Gordon holds a bachelor's degree from Williams College, a master's of public policy from University of California at Berkeley, and both an MBA and health care management degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
