ROHNERT PARK, CA—A $175 million expansion of the Graton Resort & Casino located off US Highway 101 at Golf Course Drive West is now underway, according to the Federated Indians of the Graton Rancheria. The Graton Resort & Casino opened in November 2013 and is owned by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria and managed by Station Casinos LLC.

Greg Sarris, owner of the casino and tribal chairman, tells GlobeSt.com: “The casino opened less than two years ago as a standalone casino with a variety of incredible dining options and an entertainment venue. The tribe always had a vision to include a resort product and it was at their discretion when to expand the venue. Because it was so well received by the Bay Area, the tribe made the decision to expand.”

The 342,000-square-foot addition will expand the amenities at the existing $800 million casino and entertainment facility. The expansion includes a six-story, 200-guest room resort that will seamlessly connect to the south side of the existing facility. The hotel will feature a variety of guest rooms and suites, from a typical guest room to suites. There will also be 20,000 square feet of flexible event and convention space added that includes seven separate rooms, as well as pre-function areas and smaller breakout meeting rooms. The centerpiece of the resort will be a pool area that will serve as an extension of the hotel lobby, and will provide an outdoor connection to the convention and meeting space. There will also be a full-service spa included in the expansion.

The resort is anticipated to open in the fall 2016. The project will create more than 1,000 construction jobs throughout the various stages of development, and will utilize nearly 100 California-based companies. The resort expansion was designed by Friedmutter Group and PENTA Building Group will serve as the general contractor.

“The quality and caliber of the guest rooms will rival the finest of guest rooms in the Bay Area and throughout wine country. These well-appointed spacious rooms begin at more than 500 square feet up to suites that are 2,600 square feet. Being in the heart of wine country allows Graton Resort and Casino to offer a spectacular gaming, entertainment and now resort experience,” says Sarris.

The resort and the new offerings will join the existing array of more than 130 popular table games, an 8,700-square-foot events center for concerts and special events, and restaurants and bars, as well as a variety of casual dining choices inside the 500-seat marketplace.

"This expansion is the icing on the cake and allows us to become a full-scale destination resort," Sarris adds.

Other similar properties are located in the North Bay, as previously reported.
