NEW YORK CITY—Herrick, Feinstein has added some considerable strength to its real estate department. The firm has hired Anne McCaughey, who previously served as general counsel to the New York City Council's land use division.

As general counsel, McCaughey advised city council members on all land use matters and development projects, and served as the primary interface with external stakeholders. She also represented the organization in interactions with the offices of Mayors Michael Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio, the Corporation Counsel and other city, state and federal entities and officials regarding rezonings and development projects.

Her counsel and advocacy contributed to the approval of millions of square-feet of residential, commercial and mixed-use development in all five boroughs, including the redevelopment of Hudson Square in Manhattan, Domino Sugar in Brooklyn, Astoria Cove in Queens, the St. George Waterfront Project in Staten Island as well as major expansions by New York University and Cornell University.

“We are delighted to welcome Anne to our growing team,” says Belinda Schwartz, chair of Herrick's real estate department. “Anne brings our real estate clients a unique and very valuable set of skills, including an exceptional understanding of the city's land use and zoning laws, and an insider's perspective on navigating the political process associated with major development projects.”

McCaughey is the seventh new addition this year to Herrick's real estate department. The hires bolstered Herrick's capabilities in real estate development, acquisition, commercial leasing, finance, affordable housing, government relations and land use and zoning.
