New York CityCBRE Group has promoted David LaPierre—a 22-year retail real estate veteran—to vice chairman. He previously was EVP of retail brokerage.

A member of CBRE's global retail services team since joining the company in 1994, LaPierre is said to have ranked among the top retail real estate brokers in Manhattan and across the US throughout his career.

“David's proven ability to execute large and varied retail transactions for sophisticated tenants and on behalf of prominent owners has been a touchstone of his career,” says Matthew Van Buren, president, CBRE New York tri-state region. “To execute so significantly and consistently in such an incredibly competitive market like New York is a true achievement.”

LaPierre's client list covers exclusive fashion brands and household names to new concepts, along with known New York companies. His tenants have included Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Disney, Tommy Hilfiger, H&M, COS, & Other Stories, LK Bennett, Oakley and Bank of America.

Included in LaPierre's client list is Eataly. In 2009 he worked with restauranteurs Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich to create the flagship Eataly brand at 200 Fifth Ave. A second location in Chicago soon followed and most recently LaPierre helped them ink deals at 4 World Trade Center, Prudential Center in Boston and Century City in Los Angeles.

“David brings extraordinary market knowledge and an extremely thoughtful approach when conducting business,” adds Anthony Buono, CBRE executive managing director for retail services, Americas. “His client roster isn't just impressive—it's a testament to the trust and confidence he creates throughout the process.”

On the landlord side, LaPierre has represented a range of owners, from Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to Westbrook Partners, Blackstone and TIAA-CREF. His work with owners includes launching new developments as well as repositioning and rebranding existing properties.

LaPierre is a two-time winner of REBNY's Most Ingenious and Creative Retail Deal of the Year—first in 2000 for representing Toys“R”Us and then in 2012 for bringing Express to Times Square. He has consistently been a top-producing retail broker for CBRE, landing the number-one spot in the Americas in 2009, 2010 and 2012.
