MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA—Domus on the Boulevard, a 193-unit residential rental community located at 2650 W. El Camino Real, was completed this week. The community is on the Grand Boulevard, just north of San Antonio Road on the site of the former San Antonio Inn. SummerHill Apartment Communities was the developer.

Robert Freed, CEO of SummerHill Housing Group, tells GlobeSt.com: "From its bike hub to the pool and fitness center plus Mountain View's urban trail next door, Domus on the Boulevard will provide residents with a variety of fitness opportunities. While it is packed with amenities, the ability to walk to shopping, dining and entertainment plus parks, make the location on El Camino perhaps its best amenity. And, Domus' El Camino Real location on the 'Grand Boulevard' is less than one mile from Mountain View's San Antonio Caltrain station, entertainment and restaurants, with convenient access to Highways 101 and 280."

Domus provides convenient access to nearby San Antonio Caltrain station, Silicon Valley employment centers and Stanford University. There are eight below-market rate units located in this development: five one-bedroom units and three two-bedroom units, ranging in size from 717 to 1,102 square feet. Resident eligibility is 50% to 80% of the area median income.

"As a quality product near transportation and open space, Domus on the Boulevard is a great example of a project that achieves the city council's priority goals of increasing the housing stock, sustaining the environment and improving transportation," said mayor John McAlister.

The development also includes alternative transportation amenities such as bicycle storage and repair facilities, electric vehicle charging stations and a resident carpool web portal. Other amenities include an executive business center, clubroom with an entertaining kitchen, fitness studio, resort-style swimming pool with a spa, outdoor kitchen with lounge seating and fireplace.

The apartment homes are energy- and water-efficient and include expansive windows, gourmet kitchens with stainless steel appliance, quartz countertops, spacious kitchen pantries, in-unit washers and dryers, large walk-in closets, private storage units, and balconies or patios.

The architect is Seidel Architects of San Francisco. The general contractor is Western National Builders of Irvine, CA. The landscape architect is The Guzzardo Partnership of San Francisco. The interior design was provided by CDC Designs of Costa Mesa, CA. Alliance Residential of Phoenix is the property manager.

"The City of Mountain View is one of the best places to live in the Bay Area and now residents have more great housing options," said Freed. "Residents will enjoy this exceptionally designed community as well as a convenient lifestyle in this service-rich location. Our goal is to produce high quality housing located near jobs, transportation and existing services so our residents can enjoy a convenient and satisfying live-work-play lifestyle."

As previously reported, a live/work/play TOD site was recently acquired in San Jose.
