ISELIN, NJ—Tocci Building Companies, the Boston-area construction manager, has opened a New Jersey office at Metro Corporate Campus I (Metro Park) in Iselin, NJ, and named veteran executive Ray Barker to oversee the new office.

This new office space will support continued company growth, providing local leadership and customer support, as well as space for sales and administrative activities.

“We have had a presence in the New York and New Jersey markets for many years and are excited to establish our new office here in Metro Park,” says John Tocci, company CEO. “This new space will allow us to better serve our clients in this region and capitalize on our capabilities to serve an ever-growing market.”

“The market in New Jersey is booming right now, and we have already made inroads into the larger-scale construction areas such as high-rise, bigger hotel, structural steel, light gauge metal frame,” Barker tells GlobeSt.com exclusively. “We've typically been wood-frame mulitfamily construction. Now we're incorporating the larger construction into our portfolio, and our plans are to head further into that and grow larger in that arena.”

The new Tocci office is adjacent to the Metro Park train station. This location provides employees easy access to public transportation to commute to work. Clients can also use mass transit to visit the new office, from Philadelphia, other New Jersey points, and New York City, all of which have substantial growth in construction.

“We're targeting Jersey City, Newark, where there's high-rise building going on,” says Barker. “Opening the New Jersey office gives us that presence that we need to have, and tells clients that we're going to be an anchor for them in this area.”

Tocci will add more “senior staff” as new projects enter the pipeline, Barker says.

“I know we're in the market right now for a safety officer who could be local to this area,” he says. Tocci's current safety officer is located in the Woburn office and travels to New Jersey when needed, but having a local safety executive would reduce the need for that travel.

“We're pretty booked solid right now, we're looking for more ventures, but we're not going to take on more than we can handle,” Barker says. “I think if we can get booked out two to three years we'll be happy.”

The office will have an open concept with smaller privacy pods for personal quiet conversations, as well as large, technically equipped conference rooms serving as premier collaboration space.

Current Tocci projects include a 400-unit residential development in East Brunswick, the Residences at 3 Journal Square in Jersey City, an Embassy Suites Hotel in Berkeley Heights, and a residential development in Secaucus.

Metro Corporate Campus I is owned by The Realty Associates Fund X, and managed by Avison Young. The broker for the deal was Cushman & Wakefield. Tocci will continue to operate out of its Woburn headquarters as well.
