BOSTON—Skanska USA will be relocating its Boston operations from 253 Summer St. in Fort Point to its recently completed 101 Seaport Blvd. office tower here.

The developer has signed a more than 28,000-square-foot lease at the 17-story, 440,000-square-foot office tower. The company will be occupying space on the second floor of the building that also includes 20,000 square feet of ground floor retail space. Skanska expects to take occupancy of its new space by the end of this year.

Skanska also reports that it has executed a 15,000-square-foot lease with Red Thread and Steelcase, which now brings the property to 91% leased. Red Thread and Steelcase provide workplace and audiovisual solutions and furniture for offices, hospitals, and classrooms.

Anchor tenant PricewaterhouseCoopers has relocated its Northeast headquarters from the Financial District to the 101 Seaport building and occupies approximately 75% of the office building or 330,000 square feet.

"Our move to 101 Seaport exemplifies our shared values with Red Thread and Steelcase and underscores our continued commitment to providing the Boston community with creatively-designed spaces that help increase productivity, boost employee morale and foster business growth," states Shawn Hurley, executive vice president and regional manager for Skanska USA Commercial Development.

Hurley has been appointed president and CEO of Skanska USA Commercial Development, effective Jan. 1, 2016. Skanska announced a number of executive appointments, including Hurley's new post, last month.

Skanska is developing and building two other projects in the Seaport District, 121 Seaport Blvd., a $281-million 17-story, 400,000-square-foot Class-A office building that broke ground earlier this year, and Watermark Seaport, a 300,000-square-foot, residential building, which launched pre-leasing last month.

Also in Boston, Skanska recently broke ground on its 1350 Boylston St. project. The project being developed by Skanska USA Commercial and Prudential Real Estate Investors is a 17-story, 183,000-square-foot residential tower in the Fenway section of the city. The development will also feature more than 7,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.
