AUSTIN--JQ, a structural and civil engineering firm, has announced that Stephen H. Lucy has been named chief executive officer of the firm.

Gary Jaster, founding partner and principal, will continue to serve in an advisory capacity during the leadership transition period.

"I'm excited about our firm's growth and direction," Lucy told GlobeSt.com. "We have earned a regional reputation for our structural and civil engineering excellence. This leadership opportunity allows us to continue to serve our clients who are also growing rapidly."

Lucy joined JQ in 1994 as co-founder of JQ's Dallas office. His engineering projects have been honored by Texas ACEC, International Concrete Repair Institute, American Institute of Steel Construction, and Building Design + Construction.

"JQ is growing throughout the Southwest region to support our clients' growth," Lucy says. "Our public and private projects for national and regional clients have increased over the years, and I'm excited to be leading our firm with such a talented team of professionals."

A graduate of Texas A&M University with a master's degree in civil engineering, Lucy has been widely recognized for his professional and civic contributions. He has been named a distinguished graduate of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering at TAMU. He has served as chair of the advisory council for the civil engineering department and currently serves on the advisory council for the Dwight Look College of Engineering at TAMU.
