MIAMI—The Harbor Shops is on a retail leasing roll. The property, located at 1800 Cordova Road in Fort Lauderdale, has inked over 11,000 square feet of new retail leases.

Cushman & Wakefield associate Andrea Vigil, senior director Greg Masin, and associate director Frank Begrowicz represented Harbor Shops LLC, the retail asset's owner. The team has exclusive leasing rights at the 250,000-square-foot regional shopping center in August of last year, has now pushed occupancy to 96%.

"Harbor Shops is the dominant shopping center in a trade area featuring strong demographics and population density," Vigil tells GlobeSt.com. "Its superior location and great mix of national and regional tenants draws residents and tourists."

LaBamba Mexican & Spanish Restaurant will open its sixth South Florida location in a 5,205-square-foot space. Drift by Jon'Ric International took 3,652 square feet and Indian Harbour restaurant leased 2,500 square feet.

National tenants include a top-performing Publix Supermarket, Total Wine, TJ Maxx and LA Fitness. Chase Bank, Duffy's Sports Grill, Orange Theory Fitness, Ace Hardware and Massage Envy are also part of the tenant mix.

Meanwhile, the dormant Fashion Mall site in Broward County's Plantation, FL is getting a new lease on life. Developers are sharing a vision for revitalizing the mall. Encore Housing Opportunity Fund, a subsidiary of Encore Capital Management, has submitted an initial site plan to the City of Plantation outlining its proposal for the first phase of development.
