What business man or women doesn’t arrive in their hotel room and quickly survey the desk and associated equipment like extra electrical outlets, adequate lighting, a comfy chair along with other accoutrements providing a proper workspace? Alas, the desk may become a dinosaur if Marriott has anything to do with it.

Reportedly, the company is gradually removing workspaces (AKA desks) from most of its rooms in a chain-wide redesign after assessing that millennials want nothing to do with desks! This is an about-face from a move Marriott made just five years ago to emphasize desks and “ergonomic” chairs, only to reverse and replace the square footage with a yoga pad. I am not sure what consultants Marriott is using, but I find it nonsensical to assume that businessmen, no matter what age, will not want a proper work space in their hotel room.
