ST. LOUIS—Co-working spaces have become all the rage in many cities, and now the St. Louis metro area is getting its first co-working space dedicated to women-owned businesses.
"It just made sense," Jennifer Loeffel, founder of Carpe Diem Coworking, tells GlobeSt.com. "It made sense to create a space for women to come together, work on their business, support each other in the process and continue learning from one another. Also, I was tired of meeting in restaurants and coffee shops. It will be nice to have a centrally located meeting spot."
The company will open for business this January in a recently purchased, 120-year-old Queen Anne building located at 14356 Manchester Rd. in suburban Manchester. Hilliker Corp. broker Rebecca Suen represented the buyer, Barloes Development, LLC and Cushman & Wakefield brokers Scott Dunwoody and Paddy Mullen represented the seller, The Foundation of BJC.
The 5,000 square foot property sits on nearly half an acre and has 16 parking spaces. It will offer daily drop in usage, as well as monthly membership, for small female-owned businesses seeking a supportive community with office amenities.
Corporate sponsors include Habitat for Humanity, Ikea, Lowe's, Pitdorable, St. Charles Furniture, Servpro, and Texas Roadhouse.
