ATLANTA—When Steve Dilswas an NFL quarterback in the 1990s, he looked for any and every opportunity to advance. As principal and managing director of Avison Young's Atlanta office, he hasn't changed that mindset.
GlobeSt.com caught up with Dils to talk about the opportunities he sees in the Atlanta market—and how he's leveraging those opportunities. In an earlier segment of this exclusive interview series, he discussed the challenges he sees and how he's working to overcome them.
GlobeSt.com: What opportunities do you see in your market?
Dils: Atlanta is on solid ground right now with job growth, investor interest and a renewed confidence in the business community. You can make the case that we have never had this much demand for space and so little under construction. As we head into 2016, this will require developers and brokers to be creative in finding ways to take advantage of opportunities and challenges created by this imbalance.
GlobeSt.com: How are you leveraging those opportunities?
Dils: Our culture allows us to leverage the strengths that we have across our platform in the US, Canada and Europe to provide solutions that are creative and opportunistic for our clients. One example of this is a 286,000 square foot build-to-suit project that we completed in Poland for one of our corporate clients which involved partners from Atlanta, Canada and the UK.
