AUSTIN—Austin-based Handsome, a design and technology company, is relocating its headquarters, according to CBRE.

The firm will move to 7,500 square feet at 1000 E. 6th St. sometime this quarter. It is currently at a mixed-use complex at 902 E. 5th St.

According to John Roescher, Handsome CEO, the firm is ever expanding. The new office is approximately three times the size of the firm's original office to accommodate the company's growing business. The company has doubled its employee account year over year, since its founding in 2012.

"The Austin community is where we started and supporting the community is very important to us; the 7,500-square-foot space features stadium seating to host events that we can co-host and co-present with our client partners industry-wise and on a grassroots level," he told GlobeSt.com. "Examples might range from industry-specific events taking place during SXSW to an after work meet-ups or hands-on workshops focused on human-centered design and emerging technology.

Handsome, which also has an office in Omsk, Russia, creates digital products, services and experiences for clients in all industries around the world. The company's client roster includes Facebook, Bell Labs, YouScience, and other companies emerging as new market players.

Handsome took a human-centered approach when designing the interior of the space's form and function, while also keeping the community in mind. The new office has space planned to accommodate dedicated areas for client-specific projects and the firm also plans to include a large event and presentation space to host events for the Austin creative and technology community.

Michael Bullard, with CBRE's Austin office, represented Handsome in site selection and lease negotiations in an off-market transaction. Local investor Carl Daywood owns the building and oversaw its transformation from warehouse to creative office—about a year's worth of permitting and work.

"The Handsome team wanted a unique, almost retail-like space with high visibility and approachable presence. This new office will do double-duty, allowing Handsome to continue growing its business and offer a convenient gathering space that will appeal to the design and technology community in Austin," says Bullard.
