MELVILLE, NY—Northwell Health, formerly North Shore-LIJ Health System, is expanding its operations at the Melville Corporate Center.

The Great Neck, NY-based health system signed a lease for an additional 52,400 square feet of space at T. Weiss Realty Corp.'s Melville Corporate Center II complex. Northwell already occupies 20,000 square feet at the building located at 330 South Service Road. The new space at the 88,000-square-foot office building will be used for the system's administrative functions.

Northwell, the largest private office user on Long Island, was self-represented in the lease. Craig Weiss, president of T. Weiss Realty, represented the landlord.

Ted Weiss, founder and chief executive of T. Weiss Realty, says of the deal, "Northwell is one of the strongest growth engines of the Long Island economy and plays an important role in the healthy well-being of Long Island's entire population. We are proud to call them a tenant."

Northwell also leases approximately 4,000 square feet for its STARS physical therapy facility at T. Weiss' 200 Boundary Ave. office building in Massapequa.

On Jan. 19, Northwell welcomed the Peconic Bay Medical Center and PMBC Health in Riverhead to its network. Peconic Bay Medical Center becomes Northwell Health's 21st hospital within the health system, expanding Northwell Health's presence into eastern Long Island. Northwell's existing Suffolk County hospitals include: Huntington Hospital, Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and South Oaks Hospital in Amityville.

Peconic Bay Medical Center, a 65-year-old community hospital, serves more than 7,000 inpatients and 168,000 outpatients annually, including more than 32,000 emergency visits. The addition of Peconic Bay Medical Center's 1,300 employees increases Northwell Health's workforce to approximately 61,000, making it the largest private employer in New York State.
