SAN DIEGO—NAIOP San Diego, the commercial real estate development association, installed Nelson Ackerly, senior leasing director at Irvine Company Office Properties, as its 2016 president.
During 2016, Ackerly and NAIOP's board of directors will continue to promote and develop NAIOP as the region's premier commercial real estate association through:

Networking and educational opportunities;

Developing Leaders program;

The ever-popular University Challenge, tasking local university real estate student teams against each other to devise a development proposal;

Philanthropic initiatives, including NAIOP San Diego's ongoing support for 1st Marine Raider Battalion at Camp Pendleton; and
-
Influencing legislative affairs that affect the commercial real estate industry.
In addition to Ackerly, the other elected board members are Dan Broderick of Cushman & Wakefield as immediate-past president; Gary Katz of NetREIT as treasurer; and Tom Turner of Procopio Cory Hargreaves & Savitch as secretary.
