STAMFORD, CT— Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has revealed plans to significantly expand its portfolio of specialty select brands in New York State in the next three years, with the bulk of that growth taking place in the New York City metropolitan area. The company will grow its portfolio in New York from 12 to 22 hotels by the end of 2018 across its Aloft, Element and Four Points brands—an increase of more than 80%. “As Starwood’s global pipeline driver, Aloft, Element and Four Points have never been stronger, and are rapidly expanding across New York, due to the success of the brands’ distinct lifestyle positioning and widespread appeal among today’s international traveler,” says Brian McGuinness , global brand leader, specialty select brands for Starwood. “With our tech-forward mindset and innovative programming—a sweet spot in the category— our brands have re-energized the mid-market space and created an unprecedented level of buzz in the development community.” As a group, Starwood’s specialty select brands reached well over 300 hotels worldwide last year. Leading Starwood’s global pipeline growth, Four Points crossed the 200th milestone worldwide, winning over travelers and hotel developers with its approachable design, stylish comfort and flexible development options. Topping 100 hotels worldwide in 2015, Aloft caters to hyper-connected global travelers. On track to more than double its global portfolio in the next three years, Starwood’s Element Hotels court extended stay customers. “Starwood’s portfolio of Specialty Select brands is growing at a phenomenal rate in New York and throughout New North America,” adds Allison Reid , SVP of North America development, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. “Aloft, Four Points and Element fill a much-needed niche in the market and are sought out by owners and developers in pursuit of high-caliber global brands with a proven track record of success.”
