BOSTON—For those real estate professionals who are anxious to hear any news from the company that used to “bring good things to light” and is now known for its “imagination at work” will have to wait a little longer to hear details about its corporate headquarters move to Boston. General Electric , when it announced a month ago that it intends to relocate its corporate headquarters from Fairfield, CT to Boston, stated that it would provide more information at a public meeting in Boston on Feb. 18 th . However, the company has postponed the public session, according to GE spokesman Seth Martin . The session was to include government officials, and business and community leaders. However, the company did not and has not stated it would announce the selection of a corporate headquarters address at that meeting. Martin says that scheduling issues were to blame for the meeting postponement and that the company was now trying to coordinate schedules for a future meeting. While GE did state that it is headquarters would be located in the Seaport District , the company has yet to announce its selection of a particular property. Martin confirmed that the company has signed a lease for 45,000 square feet of temporary office space at 33-41 Farnsworth St . in Fort Point Channel that is being vacated by software firm Bullhorn. GE will begin relocating some employees to the temporary space this summer, according to the Boston Globe. If a meeting isn’t scheduled in the next month or so, General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt might provide some perspective on the move to some select Bostonians. Immelt is scheduled to appear before the Boston College Chief Executives Club on March 24. Until then, speculation continues on just where GE will land in the Seaport District. What is known is that GE plans to house its new headquarters with approximately 800 people; 200 corporate staff and 600 digital industrial product managers, designers and developers split between GE Digital, Current, Robotics and Life Sciences divisions. A GE Digital Foundry will be created as well.
