INDIANAPOLIS-The downtown of suburban Brownsburg has  gotten some hard knocks, but things are looking up. The much-anticipated planned mixed-use development that will transform the area, and could cost up to $60 million, now has a developer. S cannell Properties in partnership with CRG was awarded the RFP for the project in the heart of Brownsburg. The development will feature 220 luxury apartment units and over 15,000 square feet of retail. Other key features include additional street access, a 350-space parking garage, and outdoor space for both residents, shoppers and diners. Colliers International senior vice president Amy Burmeister led the multi-family advisory team in requesting proposals on behalf of the privately-owned development site in conjunction with Bolt Redevelopment . “Only a few buildings remain of the downtown, as the original historic downtown was torn down due to fire and other developments after WWII through the 1950s,” Caroline Thomas, transaction manager, investment services, Colliers International, tells GlobeSt.com. “As such, this development will be transformative in every sense of the word. The town has expressed desire for new development in the past and the response from town officials, business owners and residents has been overwhelmingly positive.” “We’re thrilled about the opportunity to work alongside Bolt Redevelopment and the Town of Brownsburg to deliver what will be the gathering spot for current and future Brownsburg residents for generations to come,”   David Ravensberg, partner at Scannell in charge of residential and mixed-use development, commented in a written statement Tuesday. Town Council meetings identified the creation of a mixed-use downtown district in Brownsburg as a top 2016 priority for the community. “We’re very excited and ready to start making this a reality,” says Rick Bolt of Bolt Redevelopment. “This is a timely project for the community and its economic prospects as we move into the future. Residents want something that adds substantially to the community’s value, but is also uniquely ‘Brownsburg’. Scannell’s outstanding reputation for quality and distinction positions Brownsburg to take advantage of this period of suburban growth.” The site for the project is located on N. Green St., the main north-south artery for the town, across from the future Brownsburg Recreation Center and current home to Arbuckle Acres Park. In conjunction with the development of Brownsburg Town Center, N. Green St. will be improved to include pedestrian and bicycle access. A new east-west route will be developed as well.
