ROCKWALL, TX—A stand-alone Kroger Signature concept store is underway, located on an 11.28-acre tract at the southeast corner of the intersection of North Goliad Street (SH 205) and Quail Run Road. The design calls for an 80,000-square-foot store, a six-pump fuel center and a three-lane drive-through pharmacy at the north end of the building. Site plans include loading docks, a detention pond, surface parking and landscaping. MYCON General Contractors has begun construction on the store. Groundbreaking was last month and the store opening is slated for the first quarter of 2017. Justin Jeffus , vice president retail services with MYCON General Contractors tells GlobeSt.com: “The Rockwall Kroger is a Signature store that will service the city’s growing population. As a long-time client, we value the opportunity to build this new store with its pharmacy and fuel center.” Kroger’s Signature concept focuses on creating a food-centric shopping destination with an extensive offering of fresh food options, healthy meal solutions and traditional grocery items combined with a Kroger fuel center and pharmacy. “Our experience in retail construction enables us to address the challenges unique to grocery store projects, among them: building clean, safe rooms for pharmaceuticals, knowing the federal and state regulations regarding fuel pumps, understanding the installation of heavy equipment for food storage along with product shelving,” says Jeffus. Founded in 1987, MYCON is a general contractor serving diverse market sectors, including industrial, commercial office, retail shopping centers and financial services. The company has completed hundreds of construction projects in the North Texas region. Among MYCON’s high-profile projects are the Dallas Logistics Hub, Outlet Shops at Oklahoma City, Parc 114, McKinney Corporate Center, St. Francis of Assisi in Frisco, TX and more than 20 Walmart stores.
