Thurston Witt Witt says the Dallas campus of UNT is becoming a catalyst for economic development.
DALLAS—A 94-acre parcel will be added to an assemblage of land, now 294 acres, for a proposed mixed-use development called University Hills that will include townhomes, multifamily units, entertainment and retail.  The land, located at the Northwest corner of Lancaster Road and Interstate 20 was purchased by Centurion American , based in Farmers Branch, TX. The seller was Sun NLF and the purchase price was undisclosed. Lots should be available in summer 2017. “Located southeast of the Dallas campus of the University of North Texas, this project will be a great amenity to the Southern Dallas corridor,” said Thurston Witt , first vice president with CBRE UCR . Witt represented the seller. Robert Maxey with MetroCom Properties represented the buyer. Witt tells GlobeSt.com: “The Dallas campus of UNT is becoming a catalyst for economic development in the South Dallas Corridor. This mixed-use development project will be a timely enhancement for the area and will bring new opportunities for growth.” The University of North Texas system is one of the most important public influencers in the North Texas region. With enrollment of slightly more than 42,000 students across its three campuses–the University of North Texas, the University of North Texas Health and Science Center, and the University of North Texas at Dallas–the university awards more than 8,000 degrees each year, including the largest number of master’s and doctoral degrees in the region. Overall, the university system boosts the Texas economy by nearly $5.2 billion each year.
