Gartner Named CBRE's Managing Director of Retail in Greater Pennsylvania Region

PHILADELPHIA, PA—CBRE Group named industry veteran Steven H. Gartner managing director of retail for its Greater Pennsylvania Region. As a notable regional and national figure in the retail real estate industry, Gartner will lead CBRE’s retail brokerage platform throughout the region, driving growth and creating a cohesive and collaborative service offering for retail clients.  Gartner will continue to actively maintain strategic client relationships both in Philadelphia and across the country. With a thirty year career entirely dedicated to commercial real estate brokerage, Gartner will oversee all retail activities in Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware, while also becoming an integral component in driving CBRE’s national focus beyond the region. Gartner joined CBRE in December 2014 as executive vice president for retail as a part of its Global High Street Retail Practice for both occupiers and owners, and in his new role, will still be involved in growing that endeavor. Before joining CBRE , he served as president and partner of Metro Commercial Real Estate , and before that, he was chief operating officer of Michael Salove Company (now MSC Retail ). “ Steve possesses retail knowledge that is undeniably at the highest level in our industry, and he has repeatedly demonstrated he can provide tremendous outcomes for clients and our employees across many regions,” says Anthony Buono , CBRE’s executive managing director for retail services in the Americas. “I am thrilled that he will assume this key leadership position as we continue to invest in and grow our retail practice in the Philadelphia region. “ Steve is one of the most highly respected and recognized leaders in the retail real estate industry and has been for many years,” says Robert Walters , executive managing director. “ Steve’s expertise and relationships will undoubtedly enhance our retail service platforms throughout the Greater Pennsylvania Region and all across the country.” Gartner has served as an expert contributor to The Wall Street Journal , the “Good Day Philadelphia” TV show, and as a lecturer at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania , Columbia University and George Washington University , his alma mater . He has worked with some of the premier names in the retail industry including Gap, The TJX Companies, Kohl’s, Citibank, Ahold USA and David’s Bridal , and landlords such as Kimco Realty, Forest City and Brandywine Realty Trust . Gartner is active in a number of civic organizations, including serving as co-chair of the Real Estate Division of State of Israel Bonds and is a founding member of the Jewish Federation Real Estate Group. He and his family have also been one of the early supporters of family-oriented directed giving at the University of Pennsylvania Abramson Cancer Center . He resides in Penn Valley, PA.
