WASHINGTON, DC—The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District has found its new CEO:  Kenyattah Robinson has been recruited to be the non-profit’s president and CEO. Robinson most recently was SVP and National Director on the DC-based Public Institutions team at JLL. Prior to that, he held positions at AEW Capital Management, Fannie Ma and the staff office of retired US Sen. John Breaux (LA). Other items of interest from his bio: He is a native New Orleanian (writer’s note: likewise!). He earned an MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University, where he studied as a Roy H. Park Leadership Fellow and a Robert Toigo Foundation Fellow. He was awarded the Robert J. Swieringa Young Alumni Service Award in January 2014 and currently serves as a member of the Cornell University Council. He was recognized as a “40 Under 40” real estate professional by Real Estate Forum in 2011. He proudly maintains his status as an Eagle Scout and lives in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood of Washington, DC with his wife, Marnique Heath Robinson. Robinson is succeeding Claire Schaefer Oleksiak, who resigned after two and a half years in the position to take a job in her hometown of Madison, WI. Schaefer, for her part, succeeded Bill McLeod, who became the CID’s head in 2006 when the neighborhood was more blighted than built out. McLeod and some of the neighborhood’s earliest developers marketed the location and its potential to other developers and, eventually, tenants and residents. Today as Robinson takes the helm it is a thriving and vibrant submarket in the District. “Mount Vernon Triangle is one of the fastest growing and most vibrant communities in Washington, DC, yet has a uniquely welcoming, neighborhood culture,” Robinson said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to working with the CID Board and staff to further cultivate the qualities that make our community special while focusing on ways to make Mount Vernon Triangle a primary destination for anyone who wants to live, work and play in DC.”
