ARLINGTON, TX—Arlington Commons is the largest multifamily redevelopment project in Arlington history and one of the largest in North Texas with 1,300 units. Arlington Commons is replacing aging apartment complexes that were originally built in the 1970s.
The redevelopment has garnered support from the community, including $10.5 million in economic incentives from the Arlington city council. The development is located at 425 E. Lamar Blvd. near Globe Life Park.
General contractor KWA Construction recently began demolition at the site and Phase I has broken ground. Developer The Nehemiah Company expects the $200 million project to be fully completed in 2026. It was designed by JHP Architecture/Urban Design.
With plans to be built in four phases, Phase I will occupy 5.56 acres of the 22.18-acre project and consist of a four-story, 353-unit apartment complex and garage, complete with a 1,589-square-foot leasing office, 869-square-foot clubhouse, 1,173-square-foot fitness center and 2,100-square-foot lounge and conference area. Construction of Phase I is expected to be complete during the next 24 months.
“This is a monumental project for KWA Construction, not only for the opportunity to work on a redevelopment of this scale and with such a high-caliber team, but also knowing how truly transformative it will be for Arlington residents,” said Brian Webster, vice president of KWA Construction.
Floor plans will consist of one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 777 to 1,281 square feet, with private balconies or patios available. Amenities at the Arlington Commons will include multiple courtyards designed by landscape architect, TBG Partners, as well as a swimming pool, fountains, fire pit and outdoor kitchen.
Webster tells GlobeSt.com: “With the limited amount of high-quality apartments in North Arlington, Arlington Commons will be a welcome addition and help keep the city viable for years to come.”
