Latest Mission Bay Project Uses 3D Modeling

EVIVA Mission Bay is one of Integral’s branded projects currently underway.

SAN FRANCISCO—Developed by The Integral Group and designed by LDA Architects , the 180,000 square-foot, five-story residential project, EVIVA Mission Bay , will consist of 129 apartment units with one, two or three bedrooms, and a ground-floor parking garage featuring 75 parking spaces. Suffolk Construction recently celebrated the topping out of the project located in Mission Bay. Construction is scheduled for completion in October 2016. The Suffolk team is implementing its build smart approach while managing construction on the project, as it does on every project. For example, Suffolk is leveraging the latest lean construction principles and building information modeling/virtual design and construction (VDC) to enhance team-wide collaboration, eliminate waste and increase efficiencies on the project. On all our projects, we use state-of-the-art VDC modeling technology to build our buildings virtually before we actually build them, which leads to significant cost and schedule savings. By using these complex models, we’re able to identify design conflicts much earlier in the process allowing us to make adjustments to our models rather than waiting to make changes on the project site during construction where they can be more time consuming and expensive. As we often say, pixels are cheaper than bricks.” The residential project is being constructed as a wood frame type V building over a type I concrete podium, which includes multiple stories of wood atop an elevated concrete podium deck. The $50 million construction project will include private patios and balconies, a rooftop garden, fitness center, yoga room and outdoor common spaces.
