NORTH BETHESDA, MD—The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission is renewing the 347,922 square feet lease it has with Lerner Enterprises and The Tower Cos. at Two White Flint North, the companies announced Wednesday morning. The current lease expires in December 2018.
GSA is looking for some 1.4-million square feet of replacement leases for government agencies this year. Last year it published a pre-solicitation for alternative space for the NRC.
The US NRC's space needs has been something of an issue for Congress since the 2013 controversy over the build-to-suit at Three White Flint North. (Hat tip to WBJ for the coverage).
Lerner Enterprises did not return a call to GlobeSt.com in time for publication.
Lerner Enterprises did not provide the term of the lease renewal in its press release but after this article published a spokesperson told GlobeSt.com that the term was for 15 years.
Two White Flint North has been the national headquarters for the NRC for over 20 years. GSA bought One White Flint North, which the NRC also occupies, after it was developed by Lerner and the Tower Cos.
