PHILADELPHIA—Pennrose Properties will invest nearly a quarter of a million dollars to create three Pennrose Academy Regional Training Centers in Philadelphia, nearby Mt. Holly, NJ, and in Baltimore, MD, to support training for the organization's property management and development employees, and to provide a location for Pennrose Academy programming for Pennrose residents.

Each training center will be equipped to provide facilities for classroom space, hands-on maintenance training, and regional hiring activities. The centers will represent an investment of nearly $250,000 in the continued focus on employee learning and development.

Pennrose Academy was established in December 2014 to provide curriculum to Pennrose employees to support company operations, individual career paths, and personal learning opportunities. The regional training centers will address the challenge of conveniently providing the expanded course offerings and training opportunities to employees in Pennrose's multiple geographic regions. The company, which develops and operates both conventional and affordable communities throughout the eastern half of the United States, will also consider adding training center locations for other regions, such as Pittsburgh and the newly created New England region.

“We have committed ourselves to better understand the needs of our employees over the last few years,” says Mark H. Dambly, president of Pennrose Properties. “The original idea for a regional training center was suggested by one of our maintenance team members at last year's management conference, so it's fantastic to see how his idea will ultimately benefit so many of our employees.”

Each training center will have capacity for between 14 to 26 individuals. State-of-the-art technology will be integrated into each, including computer kiosks, 80-plus inch television monitors, and audio and video conferencing.

Construction on the centers began in early April, with completion expected during the summer of 2016. Innova will provide general contracting oversite in New Jersey, and Harkins Builders will oversee construction in Maryland. The project will be internally managed at the Pennsylvania training center location.
