Same Footprint But Improved Open-Air Center

WALNUT CREEK, CA—The renovation at Broadway Plaza will add 315,000 square feet of new space, plus parking and refreshed outdoor amenities.

WALNUT CREEK, CA—The iconic open-air center, Broadway Plaza, has been a dominant retail destination for the East Bay market since 1951. Macerich launched a major redevelopment at Broadway Plaza in 2013, just after the property opened a new Neiman Marcus. At that time, this highly successful property already had sales of $700 per square foot.

The transformation of Broadway Plaza started by demolishing and replacing about 80,000 square feet of existing retail space as well as two older, inefficient parking structures. The new parking structure offers four levels of parking on the Macy’s side. There will be a total of 2,000 new parking spaces added altogether.
