BEAUMONT, TX— Northern Tool + Equipment just signed a 19,218-square-foot lease at 6250 Eastex Fwy. Northern Tool + Equipment will be located next in a two-tenant building directly across Highway 69 from Parkdale Mall and is slated to open in August. The landlord is National Retail Properties . Houston-based Baker Katz , X Team International partner and brokerage firm, principal Jason Baker , along with Venture Commercial Real Estate’s Clay Mote , master broker for Northern Tool + Equipment, represented the tenant. Chris Pitts of Streetwise represented the landlord, National Retail Properties. Baker tells GlobeSt.com: “Directly across from Parkdale Mall, this strategically placed building has easy access from Highway 69 in a highly trafficked trade area. This is an ideal location for Northern Tool as they continue to expand throughout Texas into prominent shopping districts.” Since opening its first store in 1981 in Burnsville, MN, Northern Tool + Equipment continues to offer a large selection of quality products at an affordable price. What it couldn’t get from suppliers, founder and chief executive officer, Donald L. Kotula , and his family often made by hand. In 1991, Northern Tool + Equipment launched a manufacturing business that builds larger products under the NorthStar brand, including log splitters, generators, pressure washers and air compressors. In 1998, the company changed its name to Northern Tool + Equipment to better reflect its product offering. “Northern Tool has had a substantial track record of growth throughout 19 states with more than 90 locations, and we are proud to represent their recent expansion in Houston,” said Baker. Parkdale Mall opened in 1973. The owner of Parkdale Mall is CBL & Associates Properties Inc. The mall’s anchor stores include Bealls, JCPenney, Dillard’s, Macy’s and Forever 21 , among the six mall anchors and 150 stores total.
