WEST ORANGE, NJ—Gemma M. Giantomasi, counsel in Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi's real estate, development and land use group, has been awarded the 2016 Service to the Community Award by the New Jersey State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.

The award recognizes Giantomasi's strong devotion to community service, including significant involvement in numerous regional non-profits.

Giantomasi has devoted many hours to Volunteer Lawyers for Justice, a not-for-profit law firm dedicated to improving the lives of the economically disadvantaged throughout New Jersey. Since 2011, she has provided leadership to the organization and pro bono legal assistance to the community members it serves. In this volunteer capacity, she has worked in a range of areas, including criminal record expungement, estate law and family law. Last year alone, Giantomasi assisted nearly 20 clients draft pro se divorce pleadings.
