CHICAGO—The Opus Group recently began construction on a 175,000-square-foot corporate headquarters for MC Machinery Systems, Inc. in suburban Elk Grove Village at Northwest Point Business Park. Currently located in nearby Wood Dale, MC Machinery officials say staying in the suburbs will help retain their current employees and the increased amount of space will accommodate the company's future growth.

A subsidiary of the global Mitsubishi Corp., MC Machinery Systems develops, sells and supports high-tech manufacturing equipment. The larger space and customized design of the new facility will allow the company to expand its capabilities and service a diverse range of industries including automotive, aerospace, energy, medical, defense, agriculture and more.

“We're currently seeing high demand for this type of facility in the suburbs. In the I-90 corridor alone, Opus is working on two other similar projects with Renishaw Inc. and oelheld US, Inc.,” Jim Caesar, regional vice president, Opus Design Build LLC, tells GlobeSt.com. “We're very active with flex/multi-use office projects right now and expect the trend to continue. There's a lot of activity in the sector and Opus has a strong pipeline of projects, including a “class A” office building we'll be starting work on in the northwest suburbs. These are great signs for the near future.”
