Zillow Reaches $130M Settlement With Move Inc.

SEATTLE—Although the two have reached an agreement, Zillow does not admit liability, wrongdoing, or responsibility.

zillow SEATTLE—On June 6, 2016, locally based Zillow Group Inc. reached an “amicable resolution by way of a settlement agreement and release with Move Inc. , the National Association of Realtors, and three related entities with respect to the lawsuit plaintiffs filed against the company, Errol Samuelson, the company’s chief industry development officer, and Curt Beardsley, the company’s vice president of MLS Partnerships,” according to an SEC filing. The suit was filed in the Superior Court of the State of Washington in King County. According to reports, the 2014 lawsuits alleged misappropriation of trade secrets. The SEC filing says that the parties have agreed to dismiss all claims and counterclaims with prejudice, and Zillow Group Inc. has agreed to pay plaintiffs $130-million in connection with the settlement of claims. In addition, the filling says that the settlement agreement does not contain any admission of liability, wrongdoing, or responsibility by any of the parties.
