PHILADELPHIACBRE has named Robert Walters, executive managing director for the Greater Pennsylvania Region, to receive the firm's Chairman's Excellence Award. This prestigious award recognizes the top manager in the Americas (United States, Canada and Latin America) who embodies excellence at CBRE by demonstrating the company's RISE values (respect, integrity, service and excellence) and consistently driving successful outcomes.

Walters, one of CBRE's most tenured and accomplished market leaders, is responsible for leading the firm in the Pennsylvania market.

“Throughout his 37-year tenure with CBRE, Bob has built a reputation for professional excellence and leadership, resulting in superior recruiting, retention and advancement of our key personnel,” says Matt Van Buren, division president, Northeast, CBRE. “He has demonstrated a tremendous ability to seamlessly lead in times of both great opportunity and times of great change, while inspiring others to excellence along the way.”

Walters has oversight for the real estate services operations for CBRE in Pennsylvania including the Philadelphia downtown and suburban offices, Pittsburgh, Central Penn., Delaware and Southern New Jersey.

He previously won the CBRE Chairman's Excellence Award in 2005, and is a recipient of the Trammell Crow Master Builder Award, which is given to a CBRE leader who emulates Mr. Trammel Crow's “pioneering spirit, relentless drive, and extraordinary vision,” according to the firm's website.

In 2013, Walters led the successful merger and integration of Fameco Company, a premier retail brokerage and management firm. In 2007, Mr. Walters directed the integration of the Trammel Crow Company regionally and in 2003, Walters also led the local merger of CBRE and Insignia-ESG the two largest real estate service firms in the Philadelphia Region.

Walters began his career in real estate with CBRE in 1979 as an industrial sales/leasing specialist. As one of CBRE's top sales professionals in Philadelphia, Walters was promoted in 1983 to vice president, industrial leadership, for the Eastern US prior to being appointed managing director for the Philadelphia Region in 1984.

He is a licensed broker in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, and West Virginia and is a past board member of the Tri-State Board of Realtors. Walters has been involved in an advisory capacity for the CBRE National Partner and Joint Venture initiative.

He is an active supporter of the William Penn Charter School, Northwestern, Virginia and Duke Universities. He is a past member of the board of the Chestnut Hill Fathers Club, a founding member of Select Greater Philadelphia, and a current board member of the Central Philadelphia Development Council.
