Suburban KC Getting New Mixed-Use Community

KANSAS CITY—Hunt Midwest's new development will meet the growing demand for luxury apartments in the city's suburbs.

KANSAS CITY—Hunt Midwest has just closed on a 2.5-acre site in the downtown Overland Park, KS, a suburb of Kansas City, and will begin site preparation on a 219-unit mixed-use luxury apartment project, called The Vue, in July. The development will include a mixture of one- and two-bedroom luxury apartments above 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. “The Vue reflects the growing demand for luxury apartments in desirable infill areas where young professionals and empty nesters alike can live, work and play,” says president and chief executive officer Ora Reynolds . “Residents will have walkable access to nearby restaurants, nightlife, eclectic shops, fitness and cultural activities. The Overland Park Farmer’s Market, Matt Ross Community Center, historic Rio Theater and Overland Park’s newly designated Downtown Arts District are all just steps away.”  Hunt Midwest has selected designer Hoefer Wysocki and McPherson Contractors to design and construct the $49 million project. Hoefer Wysocki and McPherson will partner on an integrated project delivery method with Smith & Boucher , Bob D. Campbell & Co ., Land 3 Studio , and Olsson Associates for a successful completion in 2018. “The Vue will be designed to fit in with the existing style and vibe of downtown Overland Park while adding fresh and innovative features that will make the building a prominent addition to the area,” says Brenner Holland , Hunt Midwest’s vice president. “This high-visibility location will be a great addition to the revitalization of downtown Overland Park, bringing several hundred new residents to the heart of the district.” Hunt Midwest has already developed master-planned residential and multifamily communities in Kansas City’s Northland, North Kansas City, Platte County, Lee’s Summit and Raymore, MO.
