MIAMI—Shoppes of Del Prado just added a new Burger King restaurant to its tenant mix. The retail complex is located in Fort Myers, FL. Crossman & Company senior associate Sandra Woodworth brought Burger King to the shopping center, which is located at 17960 North Tamiami Trial. Publix Supermarket anchors the retail asset. “Burger King sits on just over an acre, and is an excellent addition to the tenant mix at the Shoppes at Del Prado,” Woodworth tells GlobeSt.com. “The restaurant concept compliment the other commercial development at the Intersection of US 41 and Del Prado.” A national brand for over 50 years there are over 14,000 Burger King restaurants in 100 countries. Brandon Eggleston of RMC Property Group represented the restaurant in the deal. The Southwest Florida retail market is active, according to Colliers International. The brokerage credits the vibrant tourism market as a retail decision driver. “Restaurants such as Duffy’s Sports Grill, How Do You Roll? and Fuddruckers all entered the market during the fourth quarter, while a number of other concepts continued to look for space as the year came to a close,” Colliers said in its most recent report. “Even restaurant brands and concepts that previously only focused on major markets began seeking retail space in Southwest Florida. However, with limited availability of suitable space, many restaurants had difficulty securing an appropriate location.” A retirement haven, Fort Myers is seeing its rebound come full swing on other commercial real estate fronts, including residential and office. A medical office property in Fort Myers, FL recently secured an acquisition loan. Hunt Mortgage Group provided the $3.48 million loan to Palisades Medical Properties , an affiliate of Woodside Health. “The need for healthcare services continues to grow as Baby Boomers age and newly insured citizens seek expanded medical care, and demand in the local area is growing as well,” Dan Eibler , director at Hunt, tells GlobeSt.com. “We closed this deal in a short 38 days from application, including Thanksgiving Break.”
